Electronic Form Tablet App Installation
To “lock down” the tablet so that the patient only has access to the Electronic Forms app, set the tablet in Kiosk mode (also known as Assigned Access mode). To do this, there will need to be at least 2 users on the tablet, an administrator (i.e., the user that chooses which user shall have limited access to the forms app) and a kiosk user (the user that will have the limited access). If running Windows 1803 or earlier, you will have to create the kiosk user first. If you are running Windows 1809, you can create the kiosk user as you are setting up kiosk mode.

For information on creating multiple Windows users, see: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4026923/windows-10-create-a-local-user-or-administrator-account

For information on setting up a user in kiosk mode, see: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/configuration/kiosk-single-app#set-up-a-kiosk-in-local-settings

Note: for installation purposes, MEDENT recommends setting up the tablet user in kiosk mode only after the app has been downloaded/installed. After creating the tablet user, you can temporarily disable kiosk mode and then re-enable it once the software has been installed.

Download the software: You can find the app by clicking on Electronic Forms Tablet Software > Download.

To load the MEDENT Electronic Forms Tablet app, Developer Mode must be enabled on the tablet. To enable Developer mode, see: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/uwp/get-started/enable-your-device-for-development

Additionally, the PowerShell setting will need to be enabled. Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > For developers > last setting at the bottom.

To install the application, log into the standard user (i.e. the single-app mode user). The file is a .zip package that will need to be extracted, which can be done using 7-zip or any other extraction software.
1. Navigate to the download (MedentTabletApp_medentmobile.zip).
2. If using 7-zip, right-click the file and click 7-Zip > Extract Files.
3. Choose your destination directory and then select OK.
4. Once extracted, access the MedentTabletApp_medentmobile folder and right-click the file “Add-AppDevPackage.ps1” and choose Run with Powershell.
5. You will then be asked if you want to change the Execution Policy. Type “A” and then click Enter. Enter the administrator login credentials when prompted. When installation is complete, you will receive a message that the installation was a success and to click Enter, which will close out Powershell.

The MEDENT Tablet app will now be available under your list of apps (Start > MEDENTTablet). Highlight the app and then select App Settings. Under App Permissions, you will want to enable both Camera and Microphone.

When you load the app for the first time, you will be asked for an activation URL. Please refer to the email that was sent to you by medent containing the activation URL(s) for the Electronic Forms software subscription. Copy and paste the link into the field and click Activate. You should receive a confirmation message that the Tablet app is activated. Click Start to bring yourself to the Tablet Home Screen.
