The
Master Files
MEDENT
is designed around a series of files that, once they are initially
built, are stored in the computer ready to be used over and over
again. The "Multiple Fee Service Code Master" is a
sophisticated file that streamlines your office workload, allowing
you to store all your insurance books in the computer for automatic
call-up when it comes time to enter charges and billing insurance.
This file can hold your different gross billing fees, indicate
whether the procedure is usually covered by insurance or not,
and whether it is a mandatory assigned procedure. If you participate
with Medicare you can have different Medicare fees for each doctor
in your practice. You can bill Medicaid at their rates or yours.
Compensation and no-fault fees can be maintained on a round robin
basis by having two sets of effective dates and conversion factors.
When billing compensation the computer looks at the date of charge
compared to the effective date in the service code master. It
then multiplies the appropriate conversion factor against the
unit value to arrive at the correct fee. If you are a specialist
needing to multiply the units times the fee per unit to calculate
the charge, our system will do it for you. Any modifiers, types
of service codes, units, and whether the service is capitated
for primary care are all tracked. Multiple day hospital charges
are automatically calculated and it will even track the amount
that an insurance carrier is supposed to approve for a given
procedure.
A key feature of MEDENT master files is that
they can be updated at any time, from any area in the MEDENT
system. For example, a patient is being registered and the insurance
information that is needed is not in the master. It can be added
right then while you are registering the patient.
