Flowsheets

This feature provides a tool beyond what is possible in a manual chart. Flowsheets can be customized to display selected lab results, meds, vitals, documents (including PDF, Word, Excel, Image, and MEDENT documents), and components. There are two view formats: Compare View, which shows the selected items in table format, or Graph View, which shows the selected items as a graph. With a single click, in the table or on a graph point, the user can view the selected item record. The meds in both views are shown as a thick blue line which shows the sig, strength, and start and discontinue dates of the med. The Flowsheet can also have notes displayed on it.

Immunizations/Injections

MEDENT's Immunizations/Injections chart area is truly state of the art. MEDENT automatically knows if it is an immunization, therapeutic injection, or another kind of injection, such as allergy. The system knows which range of CPT codes are which type, and organizes them based on that. This means all shots can be stored in the same area of the chart and you can view all or just a certain type. Printing and faxing is handled the same way. The system also remembers the last way you looked at the list and presents the same view the next time you access this section of the chart.

Within the immunization/injection detail screen, you can record all the necessary information, including who administered the shot and when. There is also a place for the patient or parent/ guardian to sign for consent or refusal to receive the shot. All critical information needed for tracking is also recorded very efficiently, including the manufacturer name, lot number, route, and site. If the Patient is part of a Program, i.e. Vaccines For Children, this is also recorded. This information can also be included in a report. The VIS documents are quickly and automatically printed. Old, original shot records from your or other offices can be scanned directly into the new shots area for archiving purposes, if desired.

Procedure List & Free Follow-up

This is an area that allows you to store all procedures performed by your office, or by other offices, on your patients, for quick access and review. This module is integrated into the MEDENT Practice Management System, and is automatically updated by the Charge Entry function.

Problems & Goals

The Problems and Goals is an aspect of EMR that will be commonly used for the Physical Therapy specialty, but can be incorporated into other specialties as well. It allows the provider to select particular problems that he/she wants to work on with the Patient based upon diagnosis code. Specific goals can then be associated with the problems, and can also be tracked and updated by the provider depending on the Patient's progress. An example of a problem that a Patient may have is limited range of motion, and it's associated goal may be to improve range of motion.

Patient To-Do List

This is a very simple, but very effective, area in the system where anything can be entered as a reminder for future reference.

Referrals

Referrals are orders with unique and specific requirements. As a result they are broken out in the chart, into their own section. They can be efficiently generated as part of the plan in the progress note or directly from the chart, when needed. All the important aspects of why the referral has been created are recorded in the referral record with simple point and click. The referral record can be outbound (referring to) or inbound (referred from). Some practices may just do outbound referrals, some may process both. There is a tracking system, for followup, built into each referral and an interactive referral report to review any referrals for which the practice has not received results or a consult letter back. There is another report that displays any patients scheduled for the following day whose referrals are due to expire. Referral records are now poised to become "electronic referrals" as well. Consult reports, that are faxed back to the practice's EMR server are uploaded directly into the original referral, by the staff, and routed for review, as needed. Any medical issues in the chart that relate to this referral can be quickly and easily linked to this referral for fast review at a later date.

Spell Check with Medical Dictionary

The Spell Check feature built into the MEDENT document writing system is truly state-of-the-art, offering both sounds-like and looks-like checking of words. The dictionary includes a large group of medical words and has the dynamic ability of having words added to its already extensive list.

MEDENT Security Module

The Security Module is another standard feature with the MEDENT EMR/EHR System.
